Biography

Dr Cohen received his Doctor of Osteopathy degree in 1979 after and completing residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Bridgeport Hospital in affiliation with Yale University School of Medicine in 1983. He moved to Boulder, CO in 1991 where, in addition to private practice, served as Department Chairman in Ob/Gyn and pediatrics in addition to directing The Center for Integrative Therapies at Longmont United Hospital.

He then had the opportunity to work with Shoshoni and Arapaho women in Wyoming as well as Maori women in New Zealand. Before retiring from a 30-year career as an obstetrician, Dr Cohen had the honor of assisting nearly 10,000 women and families in birthing their children.

After returning from New Zealand in 2009, he began treating patients with cannabis and utilized this amazing plant in his functional medicine practice. He consults patients with a wide variety of chronic conditions, and uses cannabis, diet/nutrition, and supplementation while rooting out the triggers of disease, and is the first physician to combine functional and cannabis medicine.

Dr Cohen’s practice, Holos Health, has recommended cannabis to thousands of patients in treating a wide variety of medical conditions. They have successfully weaned patients off of harmful or addicting medications while helping patients heal both emotionally and physically.

He is a member of The Institute for Functional Medicine, The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine and Cannabis Clinicians Colorado while maintaining a full-time private practice in Boulder.  He is currently writing “The Cannabis Friendly Guide to Wellness” which should be available in 2016.
